How to solve problems, reflect on what has not been done well so far, and how to do it better was the essence of the analysis of the implementation of actions to correct distortions and boost the economy in 2024, carried out at the Administration Council in Calixto García.

The work meeting was chaired by Alexis Mejías Céspedes, member of the Provincial Party Bureau, and Yunia Pérez Hernández, Vice Governor of Holguín, and was accompanied by vice governors, directors, delegates, producers and leaders of mass organizations in the municipality.

The mayor of the municipality, Ronny Pérez Rojas, presented a report that collects the results that the municipality shows in the implementation of the actions conceived in 8 objectives, 11 priorities and 36 projections in which he critically exposed the main problems that exist in the municipality that limit a greater advance of the economic-social indicators of the territory.

When evaluating the objectives planned for the stage, it was said that in order to achieve progress in macroeconomic stability, the new tax measures will achieve 6.5 million pesos more than planned, which include the collection of more than 1.5 million pesos in taxes from the new forms of non-state management, as well as from fiscal surveillance, actions have been carried out that have allowed an increase in what is collected.

Special attention was paid to the analysis of the objective that aims to “INCREASE NATIONAL PRODUCTION, WITH EMPHASIS ON THE USE OF INSTALLED CAPACITIES”; 485 hectares have been given for use, several of them to organizations for self-consumption, which is still insufficient; as regards the use and ownership of land and livestock, it was reported that illegalities have been detected, some of which have not been fully resolved. The milk and meat plan is 60% unfulfilled, and the contracting of agricultural products does not reach the expected levels.

Regarding agriculture as the workhorse of the Calixto economy, Ronny Pérez Rojas, mayor of the municipality, said: The main economic and productive source is in agriculture, therefore it is where we have to finish transforming the results in order to obtain better economic indicators and achieve greater financial contribution to the municipality”

In the extended municipal administration council, other issues that concern the people today were evaluated without half measures, such as abusive and speculative prices, and the limitations that exist in the banking program, issues on which action has been taken but not enough, however, it was criticized that many times there are irregularities and the population does not report them due to lack of knowledge.

The analyses carried out also show that despite the economic limitations, progress is being made in a group of actions such as: increased attention to families in vulnerable situations, greater delivery of resources, prioritizing mothers with 3 or more children, the renovation of the Nursing Home in Buenaventura and the Grandparents' House in Mir and the creation of a Children's House with benefits for 12 children and their mothers.

Referring to the monitoring of this action plan, the mayor of the municipality, Ronny Pérez Rojas, explained, “The process resulted in a work system that allowed the analysis and implementation of the projections in the collegiate bodies (Municipal Administration Council and Management Councils). A work group of experts was created (Government-University link) to develop an integrative strategy to define the projections and the indicators to measure their impact. The work systems were updated and it was possible to make use of the integrated control panel, which allowed a systematic evaluation of the impact of the projections on the main services provided to the population,” and he added, “It is important to highlight the visits to the organizations and Popular Councils to talk with the people, learn about their dissatisfaction and be able to evaluate the fulfillment of the projections at the base.”

[Alexis Mejías Céspedes, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Party, emphasized that the municipality has to take advantage of its strengths and advance more from its resources and with its own efforts to show a different result.] Alexis Mejías Céspedes, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Party, emphasized that the municipality has to take advantage of its strengths and advance more from its resources and with its own efforts to show a different result.

In general, it is evident that the municipality shows progress, but has reserves and conditions for much more, as expressed by Alexis Mejías Céspedes, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Party: “In each of the interventions, it has been made clear how we are going to work in the 48 days that we have left to conclude the year, based on the resources that the territory has and with our own efforts to achieve a different result, and he added: “We are in a municipality that has many strengths, but we must take advantage of them to conclude the year with superior results.”

The evaluation of the fulfillment of the actions to correct distortions and boost the economy in the municipality became a commitment for the people of Calixto, since the territory has the potential to show better results.
