To continue being useful and faithful is the maxim of men and women of this municipality of Calixto García who have the honorable commitment to serve their people, their people, those who one day trusted them.
These are the delegates of the People's Power, who in difficult times have known how to grow, who do not understand tiredness, or overtime because they are always ready to listen, to help, to guide, to encourage. They are the ones who, without any more resources than their passion for what they do, have known how to earn the trust and respect of their people.
We could talk about many who with the nobility of a good Cuban, have gray hair and defy time and years, but they are there, always ready to serve the Homeland, there from the community, where they are most needed.
How can we not mention the beloved Juan Miller Lovis in Buenaventura, the respected Maribel Piña in her beloved San Agustín, the concerned Fernando Turruelles Mayacén in Monte Alto, the beloved old man Rubinaldo from Sabanazo, the admired Tatá in Las Calabazas, the beloved Yoandra Laguarda, the young teacher who from a very young age has given her heart and soul to the People's Power, even representing the people of Calixtla in the Cuban parliament.
Alejandro Áreas, who for many years represented his humble peasant neighborhood of Janatica, and whose tired steps and failing health no longer allow him to continue.
The People's Power delegate is from there, from the neighborhood, the same neighborhood that admires and follows them, because they are the ones who guide, who are always there when their constituents need them, because they do have a lot to give, they do not administer, but they do offer encouragement, advice, they guide, in short, they are distinguished by their commitment and desire to help.
That is why when a few hours ago the Municipal Assembly of People's Power recognized them for their tireless contribution for more than 15 years in the work of government, I felt that immense admiration for so much dedication with humility and respect towards their community.
To all of them, the sincere embrace and eternal gratitude on behalf of their people, that is the greatest award in these 48 years of People's Power.
