With the objective of showing the investigative work of nursing professionals in the Holguín municipality of Calixto, the traditional municipal event took place in which the best research was socialized each year.
The nursing intervention for respectful childbirth care, by the master of sciences Isabel Mora Vera, was among the presentations presented and awarded.
The experienced professional explains the new topic: “The main motivation arises from a national workshop in which we were called to encourage respectful childbirth known as humanized birth, which is nothing more than special attention that mothers receive so that they know the entire birth process and it is not only the care that the pregnant woman receives but also the skin-to-skin newborn to also help with breastfeeding.”
“Happy for the reception it had, Mora Vera said, and more than that, willing to continue promoting in the territory the socialization of this issue to the family, the nurses, the doctors who assume a leading role for its generalization in primary care.” .
The work titled “The hemoglobin electrophoresis known in pregnant women in the territory”, by nursing graduate Lirian Rodríguez Cedeño, also became an ideal space to gather knowledge and socialize knowledge.
According to its main author, the presentation offers answers to a problem that today shows steps of progress. "The hemoglobin electrophoresis is an exam that measures different types of hemoglobin in the blood that is performed on all pregnant women and the motivation for the research arises because they attended the medical genetics consultation pregnant with two and three births who were indicated this procedure again and we undertook the task of working on a database in such a way that these surrogate mothers would not have to perform this analysis again, achieving savings in the municipality in the quarter of 2024 of more than 3,400 dollars a year. through the recovery of these hemoglobin electrophoresis.”
According to the criteria of the jury chaired by Dr. Madelaine Velázquez, the municipal nursing event was distinguished by the diversity of themes with results that support the care of nurses, confirming once again the value of science for the sake of health and well-being of people.
