Talking about exceptional women in the Holguin municipality of Calixto García is not an easy matter, because the list of courageous women would be endless. Many of them are no longer physically here, like Clara Castillo, the first leader of the Cuban Women's Party (FMC) in the municipality. But today I want to dedicate these lines to a woman who, due to her humility and charisma, is very much loved by the people. I am referring to Reina Leyva López, secretary of one of the delegations of block 13 of Las Brisas.
Perhaps many people do not recognize her like that, but if I say Reina, from Cordoví, everyone will know that I am referring to that extraordinary woman who has managed to win the hearts of the people of Calixto García.

Reina, from a very young age, when she lived in Las Mantecas, went with other women like Misora Espinoza to pick cotton, to the sugar cane, and from there she fell in love with the tasks of the organization that has allowed her to stay in its ranks, occupying leadership positions. When Reina is asked why she has dedicated so many years to the FMC, she proudly answers "as long as I walk and have life I will continue to be the secretary of the Federation in my neighborhood."

With the humility that characterizes her, and without expecting recognition, Reina feels proud to receive the 23 de agosto medal a few hours ago, a distinction that exalts the work of Cuban women. "I feel proud to have received the medal and I will continue to contribute to the organization until my last days."

It is not possible to talk about Reina without remembering Félix Cordoví, her husband, now deceased, and also very loved in this town for his kindness and charisma, founder of the mobile cinema in the municipality and tireless worker in the cultural sector. Félix and Reina, a perfect combination of will, passion and dedication, a merit that gave the family the 15 de marzo Distinction, the highest recognition that this union grants.

Reina is proud of her family, her daughters, her grandchildren, and especially Ailén García Cordoví, an outstanding athlete with results at the national level. May these lines serve as an eternal tribute to women who, like Reina, are proud to be Cuban.
