Milenis Peña González is a social worker who proudly shares the work that has gradually allowed her to transform homes and people in vulnerable situations in the Las Brisas neighborhood. "It's a beautiful and, above all, a humane and sensitive profession that has allowed me to help by providing resources, reincorporating people into society and making them more useful, and that is always appreciated."
These and other experiences that mark the daily life of the doctors of soul, with the support of the community group and many other factors, were part of the tribute organized by the Municipal Labor Directorate in Calixto García on the occasion of International Social Work Day.
Reflections, anecdotes, and memories of the work undertaken by more than 100 social workers from Calixto García marked the emotional day that also brought together professionals from the health sector and the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), focusing on what more could be done to transform inappropriate behaviors and dysfunctional families.
Along the way, partnerships were forged to continue evaluating each situation with initiatives that promote the prevention of issues such as violence, drug use, and suicide.
As part of the activities commemorating the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Social Workers program, the exchange was used to share regulations that will soon benefit people with severe disabilities and others who require special care.
According to Yaimé Ramírez González, Head of the Prevention and Social Work Department at the Municipal Labor Directorate, a diagnosis is currently being prepared locally, and each case will then be evaluated.
