This Friday night was a special and emotional night for Minerva Fernández Font, secretary of Block 4 in Buenaventura for more than thirty years. In her own hometown and surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors, she was honored with the 65th anniversary seal of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC).
This distinguished member expressed her satisfaction with such a high level of commitment with her characteristic humility. "For me, it's a source of pride, but also a commitment to continue contributing to the organization, based on my modest knowledge."

And she added, "I offer my experience to young women, because today we need that youthful strength to continue moving forward, and I tell them all not to be discouraged, we will continue moving forward."
The Buenaventura movie theater was the setting for Minerva's recognition at the event held by the municipal cultural center's "The Golden Age" cultural project, featuring the performance "Defending Nature," as a gift to the women of Calixto for the 65th anniversary of the FMC.

There are now three Calixteñas federations who have been distinguished with the 65th anniversary seal. Just a few days ago, Sayanán González Romero, secretary of the block for more than thirty years in the San Lorenzo neighborhood, and Mariela Gómez Pérez, secretary of block 82 of Cañada Honda, received it in the city of Holguín.
