Amalia María Araújo Cruz is a fourth grade student who likes to recite and shows on stage what she learned in the creative workshops led by art instructor Yarima González Hernández.

She is talkative, versatile and captivates those who decide to appreciate her skills. That is why it was no coincidence that she was among the fans invited to the opening activity of the day for the 20th anniversary of the creation of the José Martí art instructors program, a celebration in the Holguín municipality of Calixto García, which had as its headquarters the Luis Felipe Gutiérrez Territorial Unit of the Irene neighborhood.

Educators and members of the Guerrilla artistic of the patio joined the party, who through songs, stories, participation games and the magic of puppets delighted children and adults with the teachings of their proposals.

For Eglis Torres Carbonel, an instructor in the specialty of theater, her two characters “Copito” and “Jirafín” are a kind of magic to reach the children. “The truth is that I felt great, these students are wonderful and I love manipulating puppets, I am of the opinion that this way it is easier to interact, motivate, reflect and leave a lesson.”

Through contagious melodies, songs were sung to Cuba, to Martí and to Fidel, the latter being the creator of the program aimed at promoting artistic manifestations from Cuban schools.

Aliuska Laguarda, President of the Brigade of Art Instructors in the territory said she was pleased by the opening activity of this day of celebrations. “Children are part of our reason, that is why the activity was dedicated to them where they became protagonists, even showing what they are capable of doing.

“It is only the beginning,” he added. “There will be many more proposals, since this is a day that starts on September 20th and ends on October 20th, a date that marks two decades of the program’s work and deserves all the recognition and praise.”

As good hosts, educators from the Luis Felipe Gutiérrez school showed affection to the art instructors who today make it possible for fans like Amalia María to find reasons to recite in the different schools.
