Sailí and Sandra Borrego Escalona are two very happy sisters, they have just graduated from the eighth semester of the worker-peasant college in the Holguin municipality of Calixto García.
For Sailí it is a great satisfaction to have completed the twelfth grade, “imagine this opportunity offers me the perspective of continuing higher education while working at my workplace, even though I was sick I did not miss a single day of my classes, it was and is my duty,” she says.
“It was four and a half years of study, preparation, bibliographic research, consultations, we finished one stage but another perhaps more complex one continues, in any case it allowed us to meet my classmates and that is why I say that we are going to miss these beautiful moments.”
The youngest member of the family, Zaida, believes that having completed college is an achievement, “we waited so many years and finally we achieved our dream. It has been, without a doubt, a way to grow. I can communicate more easily, I understand math better, which gave me a lot of headaches, but we overcame it. Oh, and I should add that we had very good teachers who guaranteed optimal learning.”
The Education for Young Adults has branches in San Agustín de Aguarás and Mir and the headquarters located in the town of Buenaventura. “We have a responsible enrollment in the municipality. On this occasion, 29 students graduated from the last semester. We are happy with the quality of the preparation of these kids, although we are not completely satisfied because we must insist that the graduate is willing to continue higher education. We have a small and well-prepared faculty,” says Lisbel Reyes Segura, director of the educational level.
And this editor says goodbye, and to his surprise Sandra announces that his sister Sailí turned 26 years old this January 25th, wow!, exclaims the journalist, I can't believe it because we have the same name day, only with a notable difference in age, and I can only say to her: I wish you to always be that good person with whom I coincided reporting the details of one of the first purposes of yours and your classmates who today together take a new leap towards knowledge, towards the practical sense of life.
