Getting the most out of Calixto Garcias municipality's fields is a purpose that ranges between successes and quite a few failures in which once again the will and desire to do things are put to the test.
Such is the case of the young Yannier Fajardo Ravelo, belonging to the Cristino Naranjo Agricultural Production Cooperative (CPA) located in the Jagüeyes neighborhood, who has become the leader of the mini-industry “La Blessed in Victoria.”
This is confirmed by the 7 hectares of land on which peppers, chives, fruit bombs, and Persian lemon grow, among other crops, which support the production of stir-fries, garlic pastes, condiments, vinegar, among others, destined for the town. Couple, this entrepreneur from Calixteño decided to bet on fish farming and after 6 months, his venture shows results.
These and other experiences were shared with Ernesto Santisteban Velázquez, Member of the Central Committee and First Secretary of the Party in the province of Holguín on a working visit to the municipality of Calixto García.
The leader was interested in the productive results, the agricultural use and the resources that today support the hard work of the fields and the possibilities for increasing land, since there are potentials in the “La Blessed in Victoria” mini-industry that merit it.
Likewise, in dialogue with Lisbeth Téllez Almaguer, President of the CPA, Cristino Naranjo learned about the work of the 12 members who today work from dawn to dusk in livestock farming and various crops.
Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, first secretary of the Party spoke with Lisbeth Téllez Almaguer, President of the CPA Cristino Naranjo
And Téllez Almaguer added: "We are currently working on contracting, to date more than 13 thousand liters of milk have been arranged and the delivery of cassava and sweet potato to Acopio is planned and the process does not stop, since the board of directors maintains the visits and exchange to ensure the productive response of our partners.”
After this exchange, Santisteban Velázquez, accompanied by the highest local authorities, arrived at the “La Gloria” mini-industry, located in the Alegría neighborhood belonging to the Cristino Naranjo Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS).
In dialogue with Olmo Santiesteban, its leader, he learned about the main results in 2023 and what is being produced today. “Last year, he said, the planned plan was doubled and more than 800 tons of products such as jams, condiments, pickles, tamales, and other productions were sold that reached each of the Calixteños popular councils.
Olmo Santiesteban, leader of the “La Gloria” mini-industry, presents his experiences to the highest leadership of the Party in the province of Holguín.
In 2024 the challenge is greater and for this he assured that they are working with that premise: "In the month of January of the planned 89 tons, more than 122 were produced, and in February we are working to fulfill the pledged word."
But as in any undertaking, there are limitations that hinder greater achievements, as confirmed by the lack of three-phase current to start a boiler. Even so, for the collective of the La Gloria mini-industry, duty makes them look for initiatives to produce and with quality.
Santiesteban Velázquez was interested in the fulfillment of the plans, the production chain, the attention to the 29 workers and the solution as soon as possible of the electrical investment that will facilitate greater productions.
In exchange with Omara Velázquez Carralero, President of the CCS, Cristino Naranjo, the top party leader in the province of Holguín, learned about the achievements made by this group made up of 110 members, as well as the causes that prevented 12 of its members from failing to comply with their plans.
He emphasized that fulfilling the plan is the first duty. “You have to take it to the peasant assembly and commit them if you have land to produce.”
Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez's visit to the Calixteño territory also included health institutions in which he called to continue looking for initiatives to provide quality services to the people.
