Pepe y su tesoroA few years ago, in a song dedicated to my father, I wrote: "Aunt María says, cousin Cristina says, grandmother Graciela says, they say that the father is anyone", later I pointed out: "the theory is false, my friend, false and very crazy, father divine treasure, father sacred word…”

It is true that the efforts of a mother for a child are incomparable, but it is also undeniable that there are millions and millions of parents all over the planet who keep awake for their offspring.

Here, at Radio Juvenil, where I have been working for more than three decades, I have been proud to share with many of them: Donald, Eduardo, Mariano, Lazarito, José Manuel... some with more experience, others, like Pepe, with less time in the delicate embroidery of life, but all very attentive to protection, love and the daily teaching of correct habits of good walking.

Returning to the song, composed for a date similar to the one we enjoy today, it expressed: "Dear father, father of the soul, this is your party, the beautiful meeting with the family that loves you so much, that thanks you for the teachings and advice , who does not care that you are gray and older…”

This was one of the ways of expressing to my father my eternal gratitude for the seed sown, regarding the basic values of a human being.

When I write these lines I think of the example of many parents who form an illustrious pedestal in universal history. I think in the same way about passages from the life of the illustrious son of my Cuba, Maestro José Martí. I remember his idolized devotion to his offspring Julián and to the man who fathered him, Don Mariano de los Santos Martí y Navarro, who was born on October 31, 1815 in Valencia, Spain, and died on February 2, 1887 in Havana. . Martí learned from his father to be orderly and punctual, to do things well and to withstand the most difficult tasks in any type of job.

And as for the Commander in Chief, this work would be endless to talk about his virtues as a father. In a chronicle written by the extraordinary musician Frank Fernández, he pointed out: "Fidel is a father, an older brother, a force that, like water, runs gently and sweetly in the streams and when it grows in the oceans, it becomes powerful, as one of the most telluric elements of nature; a guide, a wise man, a warrior, who considered culture as a powerful weapon in defense of the Homeland".
