The young Rilde Torres Tarragó did not think much about it and offered his solidarity to those who needed it, “I was selected along with six other colleagues, we had to leave for the western provinces affected by the meteorological event that left damages in houses, crops, and devastated the electrical system.”

Originally from the Holguin municipality of Calixto García, this young lineman had a huge activity in the provinces of Havana and Artemisa, “In Havana we were there for a short time but in the other province our work was greater, a team effort, we formed an organized family that complied with safety regulations because when an electrician is at heights and as we say in “hot weather,” safety is essential, a carelessness can cost us our lives,” says Torres Tarragó who also expresses his nostalgia for the family, his wife Karina Ávila, his son Cristian, his father Rilde Agustín, and his mother Pastora Toranzo.

“My father, now sick, inclined me to this lineman trade because he did it for many years and that direct contact with him allowed me to fall in love with my job that has risks and at the same time its attractions.”.

Another of the young people who integrated the provincial contingent of help to the victims is Juan Pablo Pupo Pozo, who was away from his home for 28 days with his colleagues from the Basic Electric Organization (OBE), “collaborating with the people of Havana and Artemisa in the restoration of the electric flow, don't believe it journalist, I missed my family, imagine that my wife is pregnant and I am expecting my first child but duty called us and there we assisted,” affirms with enthusiasm this young man of only 26 years of age.”

“People, especially from Artemisa, were very supportive with us, they offered us water, coffee, and encouraged us to complete the repairs with the required quality. It is true, we work hard, in extreme situations, height is no small thing, climbing a pole has its technique and you cannot violate it, and with all that it satisfies me to see the joy of many when little by little we restored the light in homes, workplaces; it is, according to many, a school for everyone.”

These two young people from the OBE Calixteña together with Adrián Sánchez, Yasel Cisneros Osorio, Alberto Toribio Pérez González and Editsan Ramírez Fonseca went to other provinces, duty called them and there, as always, the light of solidarity of the people of Calixteña prevailed.
