The self-employed worker Armando Perodín Pérez, leader of the local development project “Corn Snacks”, made a donation at the headquarters of the Cuban Workers’ Union of the Municipality of Calixto García for those affected by Hurricane Oscar in the province of Guantánamo, an altruistic gesture that demonstrates the solidarity of this man from Calixto García by giving away these important products that will be of great use to the inhabitants of the Guantanamo municipalities affected by this meteorological event.

300 packages of pellets, 100 of pork rinds, 100 pounds of flour and 400 croquettes, all products derived from corn, was the donation made by this man who breathes solidarity through his pores because on other occasions he has done the same with his products for the health centers of the territory.

When asked about the meaning of this gesture of solidarity, Armandito, as this man from Calixto from the Jardín neighborhood is known, said:

”…This is a gesture of solidarity that belongs to all Cubans, we have done it not only for our fellow countrymen but for people from other parts of the world and for us it means a lot to help others…”

At the delivery of the donation made by this self-employed person, Romny Pérez Rojas, the Mayor of the territory, and secretaries of the different unions were present, headed by Nayla Giraldo Quesada, General Secretary of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba of the municipality of Calixto García, who summarized the important moment.

“…We appreciate the gesture of solidarity of this outstanding self-employed person and we take the opportunity to continue to call on the conscience of our workers and people in general to make their contribution with the objective of alleviating the difficult situation that our Guantanamo brothers are going through as a result of this meteorological event…”

The call is made so that our workers and the people of the municipality of Calixto García say they are present at the request of the country’s authorities to contribute, not what we have left over, but to share what we have with our Guantanamo brothers, to alleviate somewhat the vicissitudes caused by cyclone Oscar.
