The opening of the second phase of the polio vaccination campaign in the Holguín municipality of Calixto García went well.

More than 1,000 infants of the approximately 1,700 planned for this campaign received two oral drops this Monday from nurses, who once again took center stage to ensure the quality of this important vaccine.

This was acknowledged by Dr. Etnis Berrey Velázquez, the municipal epidemiologist responsible for preventing communicable and vaccine-preventable diseases. "We can describe the campaign as productive, as it was organized ahead of time and mechanisms were sought to reach families, and the answer is in the statistics."

She insisted that reports are still being received from each of the areas, and added that children who have not yet received the vaccine have the opportunity to do so until next Friday at the vaccination centers of their respective clinics. If they have a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, they will have another opportunity from June 23rd to June 27th to get their polio vaccination. "Children from one month old to 2 years, 11 months, and 29 days old, who already received a first dose in April, are vaccinated here, and children as young as 9 years old are included. All the guarantees are in place to carry out the vaccination schedule without incident," she assured.

In full swing, with the readiness Among the highlights, we find experienced nurse Isabel Caballero leading the vaccination center at the San Agustín de Aguarás polyclinic. "Progress is smooth, as the 186 children who will benefit were summoned in a timely manner, and many of the families have been here since early morning to ensure their children's well-being." For our part, we are fully prepared and dedicated to carrying out the task with the same love and charisma as always."

These days were undoubtedly intense and busy for healthcare workers, but at the same time, they provided abundant displays of commitment, loyalty, and attachment to one of the most altruistic and generous professions.
