A total of thirty Calixteños received the 60th anniversary commemorative stamp on the occasion of the new birthday of the municipality of Calixto García being celebrated here. This is how it transpired in the solemn Assembly of People's Power held in this territory.
For the only time, this distinction was instituted to recognize natural persons who have excelled in their daily tasks in the different sectors and who have contributed to the progress of the municipality.
To the pride of the people of Calixteños, they integrate the list of those decorated: Doctors, combatants, teachers, journalists, peasants, artists, workers, very humble people who are deserving of such a distinction.
One of the winners is Dr. Idalia Saborít Zayas, an outstanding specialist in pediatrics, expresses "I am proud to have received this seal, but my greatest satisfaction is that my people love me, and to be able to take care of the health of children, and help people who need it".
For his part, the prominent cultural promoter and considered the father of Calixteño theater said "Being able to give my best to culture is without a doubt my greatest satisfaction and my greatest commitment, without art there is no life, that's why I bring art and culture to my people."
An emotional moment was the delivery of the status of illustrious son of the municipality to the outstanding athlete Yordan Manduley Escalona, who maintains a meritorious performance in the different baseball teams in the province, and in national and international events, without ever forgetting his team from Calixteño "Vaqueros del Oeste".
Manduley Yordan Manduley (a prominent baseball player from Calixteño) received the recognition from Mailí Ramírez, President of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power and Ronny Pérez Rojas, Mayor of the municipality.
Art and culture also showed off on this occasion with initiatives that show what is done in this territory.
The solemn Assembly of People's Power was attended by the main authorities of the municipality, and by Yunia Pérez Hernández, deputy governor of the province of Holguín, who recognized the quality of the assembly and the value of so many people who deserved the 60th anniversary commemorative stamp.
For her part, Mailí Ramírez García, president of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power, concluded "It is an honor and enormous satisfaction to have distinguished so many humble people, from the town with this 60th anniversary seal, it is a recognition of everything they have done and continue to contribute to the development of the territory. Congratulations to all of you on behalf of the delegates to the Municipal Assembly of People's Power”.
As a climax to the assembly, the video “Sobran razones” was presented, performed by the young art instructor Luís Alberto Góngora Martínez, which includes part of the culture that identifies Calixteños.
