This Tuesday, the club-restaurant El Nocturno de Buenaventura, was painted red, with the presence of an important group of prominent voluntary blood donors, who starred in the annual meeting of these altruists from Calixteño, in homage to their World Day that is celebrated today.
In the almost five and a half months so far in 2023, the municipality of Calixto García has been among the most outstanding at the province level, along with its counterparts in Urbano Noris and Holguín.
During the recognition activity for fellow countrymen altruists, we learned interesting stories and various anecdotes, some of which made some laugh, such as the one told by Alexis Quevedo Cable, a worker at one of the candy stores in this town, the municipal seat: "I started I was very young, and I started out of love, to save lives, but I was about to stop because mate, what a fear of a puncture, it was something that was not in me, but here I am, with the pleasure of having exceeded one hundred deliveries”.
At the meeting were generous Calixteños from almost all the Popular Councils. Representing La Jíquima was the custodian of one of the covered crop farms, Alexis Guerra Giro, a man who speaks little but is very precise: I started when I was almost a boy and I have already reached one hundred and I will continue until my health heals me. he allows it".
In the spacious Nocturno restaurant, the Health sector of San Agustín was also recognized, as well as the Zones of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) of the neighborhoods of Domínguez, Los Moscones, Dovales and the towns of Buenaventura and Mir .
It was precisely the coordinator of the Dovales CDR, Jorge Luis Vega Fernández, who was the most outstanding among his peers in the Calixto geography, who also accompanied us in the verbal exchanges, in his case he did not receive applause for putting his arm out and carrying out the humanitarian act , but because of the power of convocation to add neighbors of his neighborhood: "I was a donor but due to health problems, the family doctor forbade me to continue, so now what I do is talk to my people, especially young people , explain the human value of a donation, in order to promote the task”.
The territory of Calixteño arrives on Blood Donor Day with an overcompliance in the delivery of such a valued emulsion, as expressed by Yosvani Santiesteban Fernández, an official from the CDR organization in charge of the activity: "with the bank passed on the 7th we reached 612 of a plan for the year of 1,400 deliveries, which shows that we are doing well, today is the time to congratulate all these women and men who overflow with love, with altruism”.
The summary words of the friendly meeting were expressed by Migdela Salinas Pozo, Municipal Coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, who, among other things, stated: "We reached this date convinced that at the end of the year we will once again be among the first territories of the province, all for the demonstration of passion that you, those who accompany us today and those who have not been able to come, carry out every three or four months. And on this date we cannot forget our first donor, Commander Fidel, who on June 4, 1970, when the tremendous earthquake that affected Peru, was the first to appear at a bank and deliver his blood for our brother country." .
