Maintain monitoring of pregnant women and the effective implementation of multisectoral strategies distinguish the results of the Maternal Program Children's in the Holguín municipality of Calixto García.
This is highlighted by Dr. Landry Laguna Oro, Municipal Advisor of the Program Maternal and Child Care (Pami) in the Calixteño territory when evaluating the main indicators at the end of the month of July. “The purpose of zero is achieved maternal mortality and zero infant mortality as main indicators, while mechanisms are strengthened to offer different monitoring to low birth weight.”
He added that in the first 7 months of the current year, 22 births that have an impact on this indicator and the health areas most affected are Buenaventura and Vista Hermosa. Associated with this, there is an increase in teenage pregnancy, matter on which Dr. Landry Laguna Oro, Municipal Advisor of the Maternal and Child Program stated: “To date, 61 have been registered pregnant women 17 more than in the same period of the previous year, hence draw up actions to transform this issue.”
In this sense, he highlighted as priorities the monitoring of pregnant women risk, the integrative consultation, the community genetics program, among others, which gradually show progress although there is still a long way to go way to go, especially if we take into account the necessary family accompaniment.
At the end of July the municipality registered 280 births, 35 more than in 2022, with the Buenaventura area being the one that contributes the most to this result.
