The 131st anniversary of the resumption of our independence struggles was commemorated today in Mala Noche, a historic site where, as every February 24th, the significance of epic events like the necessary war is evoked, as well as the continuity of an emancipatory and distinctly Cuban process.
Therefore, the historical account and memories of an event that, despite being over a century old, offers us lessons in patriotism and love for the Cuba of yesterday, today, and always were not lacking.
Residents of Mala Noche, along with Pioneers and their teachers, led the rally, which this year did not have the massive turnout of previous years due to fuel shortages.
However, no one doubts that today in Mala Noche, the feeling of Cuban identity and the shared pride in having a site of special significance, as in previous years, once again blossomed in the hearts of its noble and hardworking people.
The oratory, the reflection that helps us better understand where we come from and where we must go, accompanied by solemn floral offerings, gave the day a different nuance. Yes, but at the same time it showed that Mala Noche is lived and built from within with the sweat of its people who today more than ever reaffirm the conviction to resist, overcome and advance amidst the current measures to intensify the American blockade against the nation.
