A meeting with social workers to learn more about the importance of preventing and confronting violence from our daily actions took place in this territory as part of the attention to the Advancement Program for Women in the Holguín municipality of Calixto García.
The exchange organized by the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and the Labor Directorate was accompanied by jurist Roger Hechavarría Mora, who referred to one of the regulatory documents that establish the rights, opportunities and possibilities of women in our country. .
“The Family Code in its chapter 12, in its second article deals with discrimination and violence in the family environment, this article establishes that the main victims are women, children and adolescents, older adults and people with disabilities” , he noted.
The president of the Municipal Court also referred to some forms of family violence, “physical abuse constitutes expressions of family violence, which is the most well-known, but there is verbal, psychological, moral, sexual, economic or patrimonial abuse, but also Negligence, inattention and abandonment are forms of direct or indirect violence.

Several of the participants highlighted the highly human value of this program, as well as the role of the members of the Gender Committee in using communication effectively in favor of equality.
Ada Iris Velázquez Cruz, director of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in the municipality, insisted that the committee constitutes an essential tool in the work of communication, to inform, and highlight the role of women because it is worthy of highlighting what the working woman in family and home care, and urged “We must all promote this program and support this issue in the different sectors and workplaces.
