Seven years ago the world saw the departure of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, one of the greatest men the country has ever given birth to, cataloged by many as the visionary genius of humanity.

To talk about Fidel, two or three pages would not be enough, thousands of pages would be needed and we would want to continue talking about that exceptional man who knew how to consecrate the best of his life to his country and his people.

And it is not a cult of his personality, but rather a recognition of his brilliant resume and his tireless revolutionary career that he put in favor of the humble, not only of Cuba, but also of other nations that saw in his imprint the path they would lead them to true freedom.

Today we remember the young man who upon entering the University of Havana would see his interest in social causes grow, today we remember the curious Fidel, an athlete who through his support for Cuban sports managed to turn it into a Latin American reference in terms of Olympic competitions.

Today we remember the eternal Commander whose efforts to build a better country led him to tour the most remote places of Cuban geography, to check agricultural, hydraulic, social, food industry, and tourism programs, just to name a few examples.

Fidel taught us that the revolution is not done only with weapons, but that the true revolution is the unity of the people. He is also remembered throughout the world not only by those who received his historical teachings, but also by those who, thanks to circumstances and the battle against injustice, knew him as a friend loyal to his principles.

Perhaps there is no man in the world who was capable of anticipating everything, even up to his own death because months before his departure he had assured that he would be with his people, only until he was ninety years old, he said it, and so it was. Of course, his journey to eternity was not just any journey, it was a journey to immortality.

Great men, like Fidel, say goodbye to his people, but his legacy accompanies us every day, in the most difficult adversities to help us continue perfecting the work for which he fought so hard.

Therefore, seven years after his physical departure, what better tribute than to follow his example, and remember him with: fight, with love and with the humility that always characterized him. And what better way to say goodbye than the verses of Raúl Torres that

Man, the grateful are with you

How we will long for your exploits

Not even death believes that he took over you...
