The decision to resume rice planting in the cold season 2021 once again makes the will and enthusiasm grow among the members of the Guillermón Moncada Agricultural Production Cooperative, belonging to the Holguin municipality of Calixto García.
From the very entrance to that peasant organization, the rice fields are immediately discovered, in an area of 22 hectares that show an attractive vitality in their vegetative development.
Armando Hechavarría Batista, along with five other cooperative members who founded the Vietnamese project of popular rice cultivation, recapitulated the knowledge and technologies acquired through experience and from the Training Center where they achieved skills that they will not easily forget.
“Since the end of the cold season in 2013, no rice has been planted here again. It affected our mental order a lot when we saw our income and that of the cooperative diminished. The news that we would plant rice again made us all happy, we got back our spirits and we are already beginning to see some results despite the difficulties with the availability of some inputs ”.
In a united way and in a single endeavor: to produce more, the grassroots organization of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) and the Board of Directors take on the challenges of the 60th anniversary and from Task Ordering the salary is also the best expression of attention to the man.
Odelkis Ávila Rabelo, president of the ANAP grassroots body, testifies to the ideopolitical work that drives hard work and the determination to produce more food: our resources and possibilities. Each cooperative member receives an advance payment of 2,100 pesos each month through the association of the man with the area and the payment of 50 percent of the results, expressed in income less expenses, which is equivalent to earnings. At the assembly we evaluated this issue with an economic analysis that indicates the way forward in search of greater efficiency and profitability ”.
Orestes Moreno Fernández, president of the Board of Directors of the Guillermón Moncada Cooperative, took on with integrity the challenge of returning the entity to an advanced place and among it the challenge of resuming rice cultivation, an endeavor nuanced by limitations that have not broken the Willingness to stop doing everything possible to achieve a rice contest with results very close to those achieved at the time of the Vietnamese Project.
Unity of interests between the members of the Board of Directors and the ANAP Base organism radiate towards the group of the CPA Guillermón Moncada that today exhibits productive and economic results in accordance with the goals contracted in the production of various crops and livestock, which which offers him a place on the road to the fulfillment of his state commission: to produce food for the people.
