This junior high school student, one of the youngest members of the municipal literary workshop, exhibited several drawings inspired by his texts, as illustrated stories, as part of the activities of the Blancolvido’s event, which takes place every November in Buenaventura, in tribute to the Camagüey writer Emilio Ballagas Cubeñas, who lived part of his life in Buenaventura.
In the activity, based in the Casa de Cultura de Buenaventura, poets, decimists, art fans were present, who remembered the outstanding Cuban writer whose footprint reaches this Holguin terroir.
Yoenia Gallardo Rodríguez, provincial Literature methodologist, highlighted the work done with Calixteño children who love the art of writing: “They have a fairly strong literary movement. Work with children must be enriched every day because they are the future of tomorrow's poets, so that this tradition that exists in the municipality is not lost ”.
Every year the members of the literary workshop Emilio Ballagas pay tribute to the illustrious author of works such as Júbilo y Fuga, and black poetry’s workbooks, on the occasion of the celebration of the 112th anniversary of his birth, on November 7.
This Holguin municipality is the bearer of a batch of poets and decimists of several generations who are distinguished by their work in favor of this and other genres, whose most outstanding exponents are integrated into the municipal literary workshop, one of the bastions of Calixto García’s culture.
