As an enriching professional experience, the Queen of Charity Nursing Degree OFarril Fernández defines the mission of 16 months that she fulfilled in the sister country of Venezuela: “Very happy with what was achieved there. I worked as an intensivist nurse putting into practice what I learned in my land where the health of others comes first, says La Negra smiling, as she is also affectionately known in the Holguin municipality of Calixto García.
“We face daily health problems such as urinary infections, pneumonia, among other ailments, in which Cuba has recognized protocols of action and we managed to restore the well-being of hundreds of Venezuelans who appreciate the implementation of projects like this between Cuba and Venezuela that have made possible a free and quality care for the most needy and I tell you, emphasizes Reina de la Caridad, the people are very grateful for this initiative and thus express it to those of us who have the joy of working in social programs like this one ”.
But her work went beyond the care room at the Baruta Prefecture Comprehensive Diagnosis Center, in the state of Miranda. The community was also part of their work in disease prevention: “It was something nice because it is another way to feel useful and contribute to the confrontation of the devastating Covid pandemic. There we went out to explain to the population the need to use the nasobuco, the self-responsibility in caring for their health to avoid contagion with the new coronavirus and that, without a doubt, helped a lot ", commented OFarril Fernández, an entrepreneur, charismatic and sociable woman who is capable of winning the affection of others in an instant. On Bolivarian soil she was no exception, so today she fondly keeps the photos of those humble people who received her care.
“When they told me that I was coming back to my homeland, I was very happy, I also cried. I could not describe you, because many feelings come together, but the reunion with my son, family, friends is an immense happiness; But my time is up and with satisfaction I tell you that I successfully fulfilled my mission and now back in my homeland that I love and love with life. I am a native of Havana, but I feel blessed to live here because its people welcomed me with a lot of love and I think it has been reciprocal, that is why I feel like an adoptive daughter of this wonderful town and ready for a return to work ”.
