"We are far from the center of the city and the bustle of the cities. Here you can breathe a healthy air in a quiet environment; these conditions as well as the care, assures a successful delivery to the pregnant women who come here from several municipalities in the province of Holguin. Our institution is named March 8 because it honors the woman; being responsible not only to procreate, but to give love and affection to those around him, but especially to his children. "
Dr. María Jardines Carballosa, director of the newest built maternal home in the province of Holguin, speaks of her installation with pride, a true medical facility located on the outskirts of the city of Holguín.
"In August of last year we moved here the services of the maternal home that previously existed in the Peralta district of the city center, which was located in a building from the 1950s. This has greater comfort, "said the Graduate in Nursing and Ward Head María Caridad Ramírez Ann.
In this center, with 120 beds of capacity, pregnant to term of six municipalities of the province are also admitted as part of the program of restructuring of medical services in Cuba, a priority of the Ministry of Public Health in order to improve comprehensive care to town.
"The fundamental goal of our maternal home is to modify and prevent the risks of pregnant patients to arrive happily at the end of their pregnancy and contribute to the maternal and child program, recognized as one of the best and most efficient in the world," said Maria Charity.
"The maternal and child program is a priority of our State. The results we show today in infant and maternal mortality rates are recognized by international organizations of both UNICEF and the World and Pan American Health Organization. An example of all this is what we do here in this young installation that also dignifies the Cuban woman, "said finally Maria Jardines Carballosa.
