Every year the words of the young José Antonio Echeverría reverberate in the soul of the Fatherland, on March 13, 1957, when he announced the execution of Fulgencio Batista. Simultaneously another 50 men, assaulted the Presidential Palace, headquarters of the dictatorship, with the aim of obtaining weapons to deliver to the people and continue the uprising.

José Antonio, president of the Federation of University Students, and student of the Architecture degree, was entrusted with the task of taking Radio Reloj, accompanied by Fructuoso Rodríguez, Joe Westbrook and other colleagues.

For several minutes, we heard through Radio Reloj, the feelings of the youth of the Revolutionary Directorate and of the Cuban students, who wanted to see their country free of the social ills that regime produced.

Such ideas, loaded with great patriotic sense, impel the university students to undertake the current struggles, faithful to the legacy of José Antonio, of Fidel, and of so many fighters who gave their lives 61 years ago in the heroic actions.

Radio Reloj, the only continuous information station in the world, every year pays tribute to the fallen in the deed, transmitting a historical half hour from three in the afternoon, where of course, the words of José Antonio Echeverría can not miss, and works related to its imprint in today's society.

The events of March 13, 1957 shook the popular conscience and increased the repudiation of the tyrannical regime, signifying an important contribution to the struggle that developed in the Sierra Maestra for definitive independence.
