Medical assistance is among the aspects that should continue to consolidate the health sector in the municipality of Calixto García, in order to offer higher quality services in the four areas that has this territory located in the westernmost region of the province of Holguin
From the medical offices, a decisive component in this system, it is possible to carry out a greater follow-up of patients at risk, through the connection with the popular councils that allow developing different programs, such as cancer, diabetes, among others that favor health promotion.
Particularly, these days the emphasis is on hygienic-sanitary measures to prevent diseases transmitted by the aedes aegypti mosquito, achieving an active participation of the neighbors in reducing the rate of infestation of this dangerous vector.
Dr. Luis Enrique Ojeda Fernandez, head of the department of medical assistance in the municipal health directorate, told Radio Juvenil digital that another of the objectives is to overcome the professionals, because "together with the teachers and basic working groups, they should identify the main weaknesses and continue to prepare us, because medicine needs a lot of training. "
Guaranteeing a group of minimal resources in offices that are currently deficient, such as sphygmomanometers, will allow greater resolution of those health units where a solution can be offered to many problems that prevent people from going to hospital care.
"This year we must insist on the quality of primary care, with an emphasis on dispensarization, since there is still a group of technical situations that must be filed, since it is not only to register patients in their clinical histories, but also to dispense it must be an intervention tool to modify the health status of the population, "reflected Ojeda Fernández.
Dr. Geovanis Castellanos, director of the polyclinic in the town of Mir -located 14 kilometers from the town's capital-, also offered his evaluations, explaining that the referrals to the hospital of Buenaventura
