Gliserio Martínez has assumed for more than 60 years, as inheritance of his father, the livestock dedicated to the production of milk that he commercializes through sales contracts with the dairy industry.
These tasks as cattle farmer have imposed hard routines in the handling, milking and carrying of milk to the place of reception, just over two kilometers from his house where the stockyard is located.
This was the life history of Gliserio until last year 2017, when he began to provide services to the farmers of the Cooperativa de Credits and Services Felix Varela a point of storing and cooling of milk that serves the product to the tank trucks in accordance to the quality requirement of the dairy industry.
"The investment was quite expensive because it exceeded 80 thousand pesos for the price of the thermos, the construction materials and the execution of the work, to which is added the technological device to control the quality of the small laboratory," he explained. Elio Peña, president of that entity, which currently doubles sales of milk to the industry.
Now the milk is carried and must be in the collection point before nine in the morning where it stays in cooling until the next day, when the tank car receives the milk and transports it to the industry.
Elio Peña and the Board of Directors of CCS Félix Varela feel that the investment is reversed in economic benefits of the cooperative that receive five cents of added value for each liter store cold and submitted to quality tests, as required by the contract with the industry.
But in addition, adds Gliserio: "Now you do not have to get up so early in transit pickup, because that work has been transferred from one day to the next since the milk receives the necessary cooling so you do not lose quality , because of the acidity due to excess heat, reasons why every year thousands of liters of milk were lost that affected the individual economy of the farmers, benefits of which today we feel satisfied. "
