Enrique Pérez Lorenzo is a 60 year old from who is distinguished for being among the first in his neighborhood of the Cruce de Dovales to donate blood and shows with pride the satisfaction of arriving this year to 200 donations.
With modesty he tells about the beginnings in this humanitarian task, with only 19 years old. "They summoned me, I did not hesitate for a moment because it is a generous gesture, because it is priceless to contribute to saving the life of another person, perhaps that of a relative of ours, a friend. It's the most important thing for me. "
With an energetic voice and a firm look, he assures that as long as he complies with the parameters established by the health sector, he will continue in the front row, doing one of the most sensitive and humane tasks promoted by the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR).
Ramón Labrada Almaguer recently arrived at donation 106. He is aware of the value of this gesture, which is why he becomes an active protagonist beyond his neighborhood. "As a worker of the Citrus Enterprise, we have managed to incorporate more workers into donations and encourage them to share the satisfaction of being part of this work."
His beginnings, he says, were in 1975 while he was enrolled in active military service as a good Cuban to defend his homeland, there he forged values and convictions that have accompanied him throughout his life.
Today the program of blood donations in the municipality of Calixto García is in good health. Nearly 600 donors contribute to placing the municipality in a leading position in the province, said Alexander Rodríguez Pérez, member of the Municipal Secretariat of the CDRs in the territory.
"Since the start of the year in September of 2017, we have met every month with the 140 donations planned, in a multisectoral coordination work and recognition of these men and women who give prestige to the CDR work in Calixto García.
Even when there are results, we think we should reach more people, get closer to the family and add new members, that is a priority work in our collective. "
