In Holguín municipality of Calixto García the entities, enterprise, organisms and the population participate today in the tasks to reestablish goods, services and the economy, after the National General Staff of the Civil Defense decreed the recovering stage for the eastern territories on Sunday night.
Brigades of the Electrical Business Unit have been working intensively for several days in the evaluation of the damages caused by Hurricane Irma.
"The strength of the National Electric Union in the municipality is now able to restore energy supply to more than 20 thousand customers out of a total of 22 thousand, and continues to intensify work to achieve full recovery," confirmed Licet Brito Lezcano, Director of Special Electrical training in this part of the Holguin province.
Communal Unit workers continue to harvest branches ripped from trees by hurricane Irma winds, as well as collecting other solid wastes that may affect the sanitary state of the different population settlements.
The representatives of the Ministry of Public Health are given the task of resuming care for the population in all medical offices, while continuing the activities in polyclinics, clinics, and the municipal hospital to contribute to the protection of the population before possible outbreaks of diseases provoked by the adverse weather situation of the last days.
Mailí Ramírez García, President of the Evacuation Commission in the municipality of Calixto García, reported that of the 1,532 people evacuated in state centers, only 72 remain in them and are from the municipality Cauto Cristo, in Granma province, which have not was able to return to their homes by the flood of the Rio Salado, affluent of the Cauto.
The major effects on local agriculture are recorded in banana, cassava, maize, bean, tomato and citrus crops, areas that are harvested at the moment to take advantage of the tons that can be used for consumption by the population.
